Creating pelvic harmony

Why balance your pelvis?

While I truly believe that a pregnancy, labour and birth are the perfect time to go inward- to learn about our bodies and trust our intuition- our modern day lifestyle doesn't allow for optimal positioning when it comes to our pelvis and babies. We live such busy lives that sometimes it can be difficult to slow down and take a moment to just sit in the total awe that your body is growing a new soul. The connection between your body baby's position becomes important as you settle into trusting your body to birth your baby.

Awareness and Connection

A unique opportunity to deepen your connection with your baby and tune into your body in preparation for birth. As you engage in pelvic balancing techniques and exercises, you are not only creating space for your baby to settle into an optimal position but also fostering a sense of awareness and connection with your body and baby.

Deeper understanding

By focusing on the sensations in your pelvis and the movements of your baby, you can develop a deeper understanding of your body's and baby's innate wisdom. As you lay there you can listen to what your baby is telling you, visualising your babe settling into a position that feels comfortable for them and you. Use this as a time to rest and reset.

Innate trust

Through this session, you can cultivate a sense of trust in your body's ability to birth, as you witness your intuition and capacity for balance. This connection can be empowering and transformative, providing you with the confidence and strength to embrace the birth experience with grace and mindfulness.

FAQ

Why is positioning important during pregnancy?

The position of the pelvis when the time comes to birth your baby can have an impact on how you babe navigates the pelvis and birth canal. How you sit, and the positions you lie in will encourage the baby to occupy the space in your uterus and while it doesn't matter much during early pregnancy, as your pregnancy deepens and babe grows it is important to be consciously connecting with your baby and their position.

Are there positions to avoid while pregnant?

Yes! Don't get me wrong, I truly believe in getting in touch with your innate feminine wisdom and not handing over your power to anyone- even with your positioning! In our modern world, disconnection is a recurring theme, and this time doing small things can be spent as time to strengthen your connection with your body and baby, rather than being a checkbox activity.

How can the position of the pelvis impact the progress of labour?

The pelvis isn't just made up of bones but also numerous ligaments and muscles, and these muscles and ligaments can determine how the bones sit. Our bodies are truly amazing! If your pelvis muscles and ligaments are tight or are asymmetrical, then this can have an impact on how a baby descends during labour. If the baby isn't in a position that allows babys head to put pressure on the cervix throughout surges you might find you have a long early/prodromal labour. Don't get me wrong, babies can be born face presenting, posterior and with their little hands near their faces, this is just one small thing we can do to connect with our babies and bodies.

How does the pelvis change during pregnancy and childbirth?

During pregnancy, hormonal changes and the pressure from the growing uterus can cause the pelvis to expand and soften, allowing more room for the baby to pass through during birth.

Can pelvic misalignment or asymmetry affect labor and birth?

Yes, pelvic misalignment or asymmetry can affect the baby's position and the progress of labor. I am not a chiro or a physio, and my techniques are gentle and do not involve any adjustments. If you feel that your pelvis is tilted and are suffering from sciatic or pelvic girdle pain, always check with your care providers.

If you feel you need more support it may be worthwhile seeing an Osteo, Chiro or Physio to help with any discomfort or pain you are experiencing.

Are there exercises or positions that can help optimise pelvic alignment for birth?

So many! There are exercises that range from easy simple to do each day, to more intense. Paying attention to how different positions tilt your pelvis when sitting or standing can help you navigate what feels right and what doesn't.
